wow.

wow. i'm super bad at keeping this up.

well everyone, this is my last week of classes. whatttttttt.
and next week i have a few finals through wednesday, and then, i am DONE. with freshmen year of college. this is craziness. not sure what to do with my life.

actually, i should probably be finishing projects and such nonsense, but i feel the need to put up a few pictures to represent these past few weeks.

welll. these two pictures represent the 'Amazing Race' that Caleb, Jordan and myself have been planning out for over a semester now. We got nominated for planning the end of the year bash for the entire school. We were given a budget of $1,000 (yeah ridiculous) and could do anything we wanted. So we got the idea of the amazing race from the t.v. show, and worked supperrr hard to make it awesome. we got nine teams of five, and their challenge was to run around greenville to different stations and do the task that was presented there. we got a tone of helpers, and the teams had to do things like eat mustard filled twinkies, learn the macarena, eat dog food (for a bonus), riddles and things, etc. it turned out SO well, and the winning team got 75$ each. the first picture is the beginning of the race where i yelled for them to start, pretty sweet. and the second picture is of me and caleb being super pumped that 9 teams were running around greenville. this definitely was a highlight of this past semester. people want us to plan the same thing for next year. genius.
hokay dokay. well these were actually taken from last night. jordan and niqui put on a murder mystery dinner for all
of our friends. the theme was burritos banditos. it was mexican themed and super hilarious. my name was kay pasa, and i was a photographer safari lady. but, secretly i was the dead persons daughter, and i had secret motives for killing her. except i didn't kill her. shaina did. anyways, michael was supposed to be a fat police officer.. haha. pretty spectacular.

yes. these are a few fun things that i have been doing. sunday, i'm going cliff jumping with a bunch if people. a couple of my main friends, but mostly a lot of seniors. just this past semester, we've been hanging out with the super cool seniors. it's kind of sad, i wish we would've hung out with them sooner. but, i'm excited to do this with them. it'll be like one last hoorah. i should have picture from that after this sunday. plus i'm stopping by home on friday night/saturday. to get the car of course. =)

that is all. love love love.

heh.heh.

i'm the worst at keeping one of these things. i'll do a quick one though. WELLLL, i just got back from spring break on sunday night. it was so awesome. my friends and i started a Bible study way back in the day, and we were trying to figure out what to do for spring break. our original plan was to shove seven of us into a suburban and  drive across the country. yes, i know, pure genius. one night though, we all had a revelation. we were talking about what it meant to really serve Christ, and one of us meekly put out the idea of doing a ministry thing. of course, i was hesitant because roadtripping it across the US sounded like a lot more fun. But we prayed about it, and we really felt compelled to do something for people other than ourselves. anyways, about a month ago we had all signed up for this thing called urban plunge, and basically it was  a weekend in the inner city of st. louis with an organization called World Impact. it wasn't a missions thing, it was more like 'get familiar with the city and don't be so intimidated.' which is what happened. we were split up into groups, and our goal was to talk to 5 people and open up with them. i was SO scared. but i ended up talking to about 4 people, and it was crazyyyyy how open they were and how human they were too. i was expecting a gun to the face. nah, it was really awesome though.
sooooooo, after this experience, we got close to the staff, and we had the urge to ask them if we could help during spring break. coincidentally, our spring break lined up with theirs, and it was their biggest event of the year: VBS. yes, it was indeed a perfect
situation. so we set everything up and headed over there
for spring break. the people that went were these kids:
^that is me,michael, rachel zahnhiser, josh cranston, caleb romoser, jordan hohm, and niqui reinhard.
so, we travelled there last sunday night. we had NO idea what was in store. basically, the World Impact made us run the whole thing. It was sooooo exhausting. We got up at seven every morning, and ended the day at five, and still con
tinued throughout the night to work on what we needed for the following day. we planned the Bible lessons, we taught the Bible lessons, we ran the skits, we planned all the electives. my electives wer
e art and drama. i taught art with josh and drama with caleb, and we were totally by ourselves when we did that. we were drained but the kids we met and the relationships we built were so incredibly worth it.
the first day we had about 12 kids, but it reached up to 3
0 by the end. the staff told us this was the best vbs they had ever hosted. which meant the world to us because we honestly put in 100% the entire week.  the first few days we had a group from
 clemson university that helped out.

thats our group that we had till wednesday. they were really helpful. some
tim
es it was too many bodies though. they were awesome kids, and we actually went to one of their worship services for a night, and it was incredible. well, my favorite memory from this trip was on friday. caleb and i had to teach the Bible lesson for
that day. so on thursday night we sat down and started to plan it out. immediately we got nervous because we realized we had to share the gospel story with them for that specific day. all week we had been talking about the ten commandments. but on friday, the point was that the ten commandments were not eno
ugh, that we all n
eeded Jesus. Caleb and i prayed about it for a long time and spoke with the staff about it. and on friday, it ran so smoothly. after we spoke, we split off into groups and asked the kids what they about Jesus and what He did on the cross for us. Michael and i had three boys, and one of the boys, Jeremiah was really curious about it all. He's
seven, and has a real brilliant mind. He seemed to full
y grasp it all, and I asked him if he wanted to ask Jesus into his heart. He said yes, and i went and prayed with him. He was so happy afterwards he went and told everyone. I started crying because i couldn't believe God had used me to do such a powerful thing. Quite a few kids came to Christ that day. That moment was truly one of the best
of my life.

That's Jeremiah. My little buddy, and now a brother in Christ too. =)
Yeah, so that week was just so re
warding to all of us. We grew spiritually and really had some tough stuff thrown at us. Adrienne and Jordan, holy crap you guys are awesome. I'm telling you, working with inner city kids was just crazy. I don't even know how Adge and Jordy do it all the time.
I feel like i could write a novel more, but i have to eat dinner in like two seconds. so, yes, that was great and superb. and i can't really put it all into words.
but Hannah's due soon! and i CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i miss you family. a lot.

that is about it. much love and all that jazz.

oh and p.s. me and michael are doing pretty spectacularly. =)

adventures.

a lot of things have happened in the past week and half. let us review:

last weekend i went to michigan with michael, and not only was it good to see him, it was really fun to hang out with his grandparents. the first day we went cross country skiing. it's super easy, besides walking up hills, which there was a lot of me on my butt time.
michael's grandparents surprised us that night with downhill skiing for the next day. yes. holy moses, i've never done such a thing and i was pretty terrified. i acted like tough stuff though. so on saturday we ventured towards crystal mountain and we skiied. i, kelly baker, am the WORST skiier in the history of the universe. i had little girls in burton pink equipment passing me up. basically, when we first started on the easy hills (michael's been skiing before, he's real good at it), i just tumbled down on my stomach. actually one of my legs was backwards at one point and i couldn't stop it. mmm yeah. then, i just zoomed down the hill at 100 mph. eventually, michael tought me how to turn, but that just ended up with me running into all the trees on the side of every flipping hill, or just sliding backwards. finally, i got the hang of it. i'm still pretty terrible though. nevertheless, it was AWESOME. i would definitely do it again. thanks rach for those snowboarding pants. even if i had to wear them like mom pants.
on sunday we went snow shoeing across bass lake, michael fell through the ice twice. i make sure to tell everyone that, i think because it makes me feel better about myself at skiing. he got stuck a couple times, i just laughed. it wasn't deep. other than these three adventuresome activities, we just hung out with the grandparents, played lots of cards, watched lots of political television, ate lots of delicious food and all around just had a good time.

well, i'm back at school now. ready to kick butt. tara's asleep right now, and i think she just said something about chicken in her sleep. anyways,

classes are real good. getting up at 8:00 isn't too bad. it makes me fall asleep sooner at night then. i have:
COR class: i'm pretty pumped about this one, Dr. Dunnington is genius and he went to oklahoma state so he probably knows Jordy. but he is an awesome theologian man, person, teacher thing. i've already learned a lot. good perspectives and such.

Drawing II: i'm realllllyy looking forward to this. i haven't drawn for so long. and i already see myself learning a lot. yesterday we had to draw our self portraits without a mirror. yes, i kind of turned out as a block of cheese. i think i criticize myself too hard though, because the coolest hipster on campus, Steph Plant, was amazed by my drawing. huzzah!

Speech: I totally own that class.

English: Boring as heck, but once again, ownage.

Computer Programming: This will be difficult. it'll be good though. Deloy Cole is the Digital Media head here, so this class is taking me one step closer to my degree. It's all codes and computer scripts. I am going to be coming out of here as one nerdy person. tada.

Yes, those are my scholarly classes. It's going to be a good semester. no explanation needed, it's just going to be. Anyways, this morning me and my friends woke up at 5:30 am to go to Denny's and get a free grand slam. which is so generous to the American people. thanks Denny's for making dreams come true. but we went there and waited for an hour because everyone from china decided to go to that specific Denny's and we had eight people in our group. At one point, they called 'Banker' and we got excited but then severely pissed because it wasn't Baker. yes, that was fun.

hmmm..anything else. oh! i got a babysitting job. i researched, found this family. two little girls, Gabby and Trinny(trinity), 2 years old and 10 months. I met them yesterday and they are adorable. And i start tomorrow! woot! its REALLY crappy pay, they can't afford too much, but heck, i can't afford to be picky about the zero dollars i'm making right now. it's going to be a super easy job.

andddd that last drug study i talked about was cancelled. so i signed up for another one. 1600 dolla. cha-ching.

and that is all my dear loved ones.

i want to come home this weekend. things are looking down though... i can't afford a train ticket...um. yes. we shall see.

i have nothing furthur to say. let's see how faithful you people are at commenting or reading my awesome posts. toodaloo

new year. new things.

holy moses these things are exciting. well, i write for you, family.

it's 2009. crazy things are ahappening.
i'm already so bored with writing this, i don't know how much farther i can go.
anyways,
i start the new semester next wednesday. it'll be good to get a fresh new start with grades and all... yes mom and dad, yes.

crazy thing #1: mom's got a facebook. HUZZAH. not really sure how i feel about this one. but hey, welcome to the crazy world where face meets book.

crazy thing #2: everything in the house is breaking right about now. both cars are being weird, in fact, the grey toyota doesn't even work. the water pump in the house didn't work and i had to pee for five hours straight. the internet was down for a day last week. man. leave us alone breaker of  things.

crazy thing #3: michael and i are traveling up to pentwater, michigan this weekend to stay with his grandparents at their lakehouse before the semester starts. i'm pretty pumped, it'll be a lot of fun. apparently we're going skiing, Lord help me because i am very un-coordinated. his grandparents are really excited about us coming and we are too.

crazy thing #4: i'm signed up for another drug study at the end of february. 900 dollars. very much needed for the tuition. i don't remember what the drug is...but michael and jordan are doing it too so we'll all die together. 40 blood draws, two weekends, free t-shirts, loads of fun, risk of nausea and seizures, priceless.

crazy thing #5: i applied for this job in denali, alaska this summer. basically, i'd be working at a lodge, either waitressing or housekeeping. i'd work 50 hour weeks but get paid like 4 grand for the whole summer. once again, good for this whole tuition shenanigan. VERY good. the sweet part is, they pay for the flight out there and everything. so i'd have alaska in my backyard, weekends to go camping, michael will be there, and lots and lots of nature. love it.. prayers would be appreciated for getting an interview for this.

5 crazy things indeed. i'll write more once something interesting happens. actually, i'll probably forget that this thing exists. huzzah.

blog number 1. how creative.

I decided to take initiative and create my own wall of electronic thoughts. I figured that since I'm entering into collegeland, I'd keep the ones I love most, up to date. Yeah, I have nothing else to really say right now. I'll actually start blogging once I start school. Till then.

p.s. Adge, don't be a slacker. Getchoself one of these things too.
